Nia is an enjoyable dance based workout, suitable for all levels of fitness. You’ll find that Nia is both energising and relaxing as well as being fun! Nia fuses dance choreography with movements from healing arts such as yoga and martial arts such as Tai Chi, to offer you a complete workout for the body and mind.
Nia classes offer you a fun, friendly and creative way to improve your health and your sense of wellbeing.
Over time you can expect increased fitness, improved coordination, and higher energy levels in your daily life.
Over time you can expect greater sensory awareness, and an increased ability to focus and concentrate.
Nia is fun and friendly. Don't you deserve a little more joy in your life?
Felicity introduces the Nia movement practice and answers the question, what is Nia?
You don’t need any previous dance experience, and you can adapt the Nia moves to suit you, moving gently or energetically depending on what your body needs. You are encouraged to listen to sensations in your body and to move in a way that feels good to you. Nia’s original routines are danced to delightful world music, published by the Nia Sounds record label.
Nia is normally danced barefoot, although you can wear non-slip dance socks or soft soled shoes if you prefer.
I also recommend loose comfortable clothing with layers.

Dancing has been my source of joy for over 20 years, and I find a sense of freedom on the dance floor whatever else is going on. After experimenting with different forms of dance and movement, I discovered Nia, and realised that here was a beautiful and complete system of movement that suited my body and my mind.
I love Nia so much that I decided in 2019 to take the intensive training to become a Nia White Belt teacher. I am excited about sharing this powerful and enjoyable movement practice with students in and around my home town of Alresford in Hampshire.
My classes are currently suspended due to Covid-19. Click the button below to join our class mailing list updates on class dates, times, and venues when we restart, including any online classes that may be offered.
